Christopher Wateland, Associate Attorney

Christopher was born and raised in the small town of Wahpeton, North Dakota. After high school, he attended the North Dakota State College of Science in Wahpeton prior to transferring to the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks, ND, where he completed his undergraduate degree in Political Science.

Following college, he enlisted in the United States Navy Reserve as a Master-At-Arms. Upon completing his initial training in 2012, he returned home to attend law school at the University Of North Dakota School Of Law. While there, he participated in moot court, trial competitions and was a member of the UND Law hockey team. He graduated in May of 2015 before moving to Arizona with his wife, LaTanya.

While LaTanya was a prosecutor for Yavapai County, AZ, he had the honor and privilege of working for U.S. Senator John S. McCain. Christopher worked out of Senator McCain’s Prescott office as a constituent advocate where he primarily dealt with VA claims and veterans’ casework, and occasionally performed statewide outreach for the northern region of Arizona.

In 2017, Christopher moved back north to Minnesota after accepting a position as an Assistant County Attorney for Wadena County, MN. Shortly thereafter, his wife accepted a commission in the United States Air Force as a JAG and they both moved to Anchorage in 2018.

In his spare time, Christopher enjoys spending time with his wife, history, politics, golfing, hockey, hiking, hunting & fishing, and is especially enthusiastic about following and supporting his favorite soccer team, FC Barcelona. Additionally, he is a member of the ND American Legion and has formerly been involved with the ND Boys State program, as well as coaching youth soccer in Prescott, AZ.

Christopher is extremely excited to be part of the Walker & Eakes family and is eager to get involved with the local community while here in the Last Frontier.
